Eileen M. Couillard
Eileen M. Couillard, 85, died Jan. 7, 2017. Eileen was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Spring Valley, WI to the late Ernest and Thelma (Lawrence) Jacobson. She is survived by her five sons, Greg (Carol) Easter, Wausau; Rod (Colleen) Couillard, Merrill; Brad (Penny) Couillard, New London; John (Erin) Couillard, Mosinee; Doug (Debbie) Couillard, Merrill; a cousin; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and a sister. Brainard Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Alice R. Gabor
Alice R. Gabor, 90, formerly of Schofield, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017. She was born April 22, 1926 in the town of Franzen. Survivors include her three children, Barbara (Al) Spindler, Rozellville, Thomas (Sandy) Gabor, Colorado Springs, Colo., Allan (Kelley) Gabor, Wausau; five grandchildren, great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry Gabor, one son, James Gabor, one brother and one sister. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Marie T. Kamenick
Marie T. Kamenick, 93, Marathon, died Monday Jan. 9. She was born May 9, 1923, in Marathon, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Beran) Mohr. On June 1, 1946, she married Walter Kamenick at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. He preceded her in death in 1998. Survivors include seven children, Lynn Witberler, Marathon, Carole (Craig) Hildebrand, Mississippi, Susan Ster, Pewaukee, Janet (Michael) Klosinski, Wausau, Dan (Jan Lepak) Kamenick, Marathon, Jeff (Eliana) Kamenick, Merrill, John (Sue) Kamenick, Mosinee, four siblings ; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, and two grandsons. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, is in charge of arrangements.
Joyce J. Giovanoni
Joyce J. Giovanoni, 75, Wausau died Monday, Jan.2017. She was born November 29, 1941 in Virginia, Minnesota, daughter of the late S. Henry and Ellen Johnson. On June 22, 1963 she married Joe Giovanoni in Hurley. He survives. Survivors include her beloved husband, her children that were everything to her, Gina Giovanoni, Schofield and Michael Giovanoni, Wausau, her three grandchildren, one brother, three nieces and seven nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister. A Memorial Mass will be held at Noon, Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Alice M. Krause
Alice M. Krause, 89, Wausau, died Saturday, Jan. 7. She was born May 3, 1927 in Marathon, daughter of the late Thomas and Rose (Kocik) Stubinski. On June 15, 1946, she married Alex Krause from Edgar, WI. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1984. Survivors include her children, Gary (Jean) Krause, Wausau; Sandra (David Copeland) Krause, Bradenton, FL, Roger Krause, Joyce Krause, both of Wausau, Karen (Dale Conn) Krause, Apollo Beach, FL, Dale (Lori) Krause, Edgar, Jerry Krause, Mosinee and Roy Krause, Merrill; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Church of St. Anne. Private burial will take place at a later date. Edward “Eddie” R. Burk
Edward “Eddie” R. Burk, 78, town of Halsey, died Sunday, Jan. 8. He was born May 17, 1938 in the town of Cassel, son of the late Reinhold and Flossie (Bacon) Burk. In January of 1961, he married Bonniejean Passow in Wausau. She preceded him in death on January 21, 1981. Survivors include, three children, David R. N. (Renae) Burk, Cynthia A. (Thomas) Naughton and E. R. Michael Burk II; eight grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and one sister. Besides his parents and wife, Bonniejean, he was preceded in death by twin sisters. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services all at the Edgar funeral home.
Nancy J. Lindsley
Nancy J. Lindsley, 59, Wausau, died Monday, Jan. 9. She was born February 10, 1957 in Wausau, daughter of the late Fredrick and Lorraine (Dahlke) Plautz. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be 4:30 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Rev. Jen Dahle will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Humane Society of Marathon County.
Samuel Ferdinand Hess
Samuel Ferdinand Hess, 92, of Wausau, died January 7. Sam was born on September 14, 1924, in Mauston, WI, the youngest of nine children of Gustav and Amelia (Derkee) Hess. On June 14, 1952, he married Elaine Stucky at Bethany Lutheran Church, Rice Lake, WI. She survives. Three children also survive: Steven (Laurie), Overland Park, KS, Lori Barton, Wausau, and Brian (Michelle), Appleton. Seven grandchildren, three and one great-granddaughter. A celebration of Sam’s life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Townline Road, Wausau. Rev. David Wetmore and Rev. Rick Kelm will officiate. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, town of Texas, with military honors. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on January 14, 2017, at the church.
Jake Daniel Bursik
Jake Daniel Bursik, 80, of Wausau died January 9. He was born March 24, 1936 in Medford, WI to the late Jacob Bursik and Sidonia “Cinda” (Kapitz) Bursik. He married Thelma Greenhill on August 29, 1959 in Sand Creek, WI. He is survived by his wife, Thelma, children: Daniel (Susan) Bursik, Woodbury, MN; Paul (Debra) Bursik, De Pere, WI; Robert (Jessica) Bursik, Amery, WI; Maria Wierzba, Weston, WI; and nine grandchildren; in-laws, niece and nephew. He is preceded in death by his and her husband, nephew, and brother-in-law. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 Adams Street, Wausau. The Rev. Dr. Niveen Sarras will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams Street, Wausau, and again from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.

Edward Henry Werner
Edward Henry Werner, 97, of Schofield died on Jan. 8. He was born on May 15, 1919 to Andrew and Frances (Wunder) Werner. He is survived by his two sons James (Stephanie) Werner, Watertown, WI , David (Jamie) Werner, Ladysmith, WI, and one daughter, Joan (Paul) Alliet, Appleton, one brother, seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Werner and one sister. Services will be held at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schofield on Thursday, January 12, 2017 with Pastor Walter Davidson officiating. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. until the time of Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial with full Military Honors will take place at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery immediately following service. John J. Buettgen Funeral Home is assisting family at this time.
Bill Creske
Bill Creske, 64, Mosinee, died Saturday, Jan. 7. He was born September 22, 1952, in Wausau, the son of Joyce (Grassl) Creske and the late Edward Creske. He married Charlene Nest on August 11. She survives. Survivors include his mother, his two sons, Ben (Jen) Creske and Scott Creske, both of Mosinee, two grandchildren, two step-grandsons, two sisters and many nieces and nephews and friends. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Reverend Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. Visitation will be again from 9am Wednesday until time of services at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is assisting the family with arrangements.
