Adults invited to MCPL Wausau to learn about swimwear of the past

FOR THE WAUSAU TIMES
WAUSAU – Adults can learn about the history of swimwear at Making a Splash: The History of the Bathing Suit. The talk will be held on July 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau.
Linda Forbess and Anna Chilsen Straub of the Marathon County Historical Society will discuss the development of the bathing suit, from heavy wool suits meant for dabbling your toes in the water to fitted suits that could actually be used for swimming. The talk features swimsuits from the collections of the Marathon County Historical Society. It’s the perfect, light-hearted history program for a mid-summer night!
This event is free and open to the public with no registration required. For more information, call 715-261-7230 or visit https://mcpl.us/events/?e_id=12008.
