Summit Players Theatre Performing Macbeth Across Wisconsin
FOR THE WAUSAU TIMES
Summit Players Theatre, a traveling, non-profit theatre company that provides free Shakespeare performances and workshops in the Wisconsin State Parks, is returning in summer 2023, bringing Shakespeare’s spooky tragedy Macbeth to 22 state parks. Despite only being the company’s second tragedy, this show will be presented in the same accessible, family-friendly style the group is known for.
The performances are free and preceded by a 45-minute educational workshop. The company will offer its workshop and performance at Rib Mountain State Park on July 14, 2023. The workshop will be at 5:30 p.m., and the show will be at 7:00 p.m.
Summit Players Theatre will present a stripped-down, 75-minute production of Macbeth. Each show will also be preceded by a brand new 45-minute educational Shakespeare workshop. Summit Players Theatre is the only troupe in the state bringing theatre into the state parks in this way, offering uniquely accessible arts and education programming due to its partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
