WAUSAU – Wausau assistance facility, Open Door is searching for volunteers.
Open Door is a nonprofit organization that assists formerly incarcerated individuals, with resources such as: a clothes closet, personal hygiene items, free coffee, resources for employment, education, medical and mental health appointments, computer lab for searches for employment, and housing.
“Our goal is to give people a second chance. Everyone makes mistakes in life, but that doesn’t mean they have to pay for them the rest of their life. Sometimes good people make bad choices. It doesn’t mean they are bad, it means they are human,” explained Open Door Executive Director Anne Drow.
The organization, located at 319 S. Fourth Street, also offers programs, such as the Partner Project where a guest works one-on-one with a volunteer.
Open Door is currently looking for volunteers to help in the office as an office manager, volunteer coordinator, and individuals to assist guests with daily needs. All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
“We are open from 5 a.m. until noon Monday – Friday and 5 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. So, any time during that is a need for volunteers,” Drow said.
