Faith in Action of Marathon County’s response to Novel COVID-19
The global outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) is on the minds of individuals and organizations everywhere. SAFETY is at the center of all we do at Faith in Action of Marathon County (FIAMC). As information about COVID-19 continues to evolve, we are committed to taking preventative measures to reduce the risk to our Care-Receivers, Volunteers, and Staff. We are continuously monitoring the Center for Disease Control’s guidelines and recommendations. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified older adults to be at a higher risk for serious illness with COVID-19. This is in response to the potential higher risk of serious illness among our senior Care-Receivers and senior Volunteers.
Beginning March 18 at 2:00 p.m. through the duration of the present state of emergency, all unnecessary transportation, Home Visits, and other Face-to-Face Services are suspended. Only these NECESSARY health-related patient treatments and food security trips will be continued – as long as we have Driver Volunteers:
•Cancer Treatments
•Cardiovascular Treatments
•Dialysis
•Life-sustaining Treatments
•Food Deliveries from The Neighbor’s Place
•Deliveries of Pre-paid and Ordered Groceries from Grocery Stores that facilitate pickup orders
To allow for the continuance of the above services, as soon as supplies have been procured, FIAMC Volunteers will be supplied with Facial Masks, Hand-Sanitizer, and Disposable Gloves.
As a safety precaution related to this novel coronavirus, we have made some modifications to our business operations. Due to the nation-wide protocols implemented for social distancing at this time, to try and slow down the spread of the virus, Faith in Action of Marathon County’s staff will remain available by phone or email – only.
We are committed to serving the needs of our senior community* and we apologize for any inconvenience our modified operations may cause you. We appreciate your understanding as we make difficult but necessary decisions in the best interest of all who are involved in Faith in Action of Marathon County.”
