WDVA, Lt. Governor Kleefisch to host Veterans Day ceremony in Wausau
Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary John A. Scocos and Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch will host three Veterans Day ceremonies on Friday, Nov. 11, to thank and honor all those who have served our country.
In addition to the Secretary and the Lt. Governor, each ceremony will feature a local speaker. In Eau Claire, Peter Bacon, a third-generation member of the 32nd “Red Arrow” Division whose grandpa served in WWI and whose father served in WWII, will share his family’s story. In Wausau, Marine Corps veteran Rebecca Zahrndt will discuss life as a student after service. In Oneida, the ceremony will feature representatives of the Oneida Nation, as well as current and former VFW Post commanders as they celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Robert Cornelius Post.
The ceremonies will also kick off the state’s commemorative efforts for the World War I centennial. The events follow State Highway 29, the World War I Veterans Memorial Highway, across the state.
The Wausau ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. in the Community Room of Northcentral Technical College, 1000 Campus Dr.
