Garden Work Day celebrates 175 years of the Y
In celebration of the YMCA’s 175 th birthday, we have a great way to serve as a volunteer, with a day of action!
On Saturday, June 8th you can help us plant some seedlings in the Woodson YMCA Community Garden at the Aspirus Branch, 3402 Howland Avenue, Weston. Drop in any time from 9 am- 11 am. Join our efforts to provide healthy fresh foods this season to area food pantries.
You can be a part of the global day of service and celebration as YMCAs across the globe encourage volunteerism on June 8th. It’s called Volunteer 175 to mark this milestone anniversary of the Y. The YMCA has empowered people to be a positive force for social change since its founding in London in 1844. Today, there is a YMCA presence in 119 countries.
Join us in the Community Garden one time or multiple times! Individuals or groups are invited to help weed, prune and harvest fresh produce. Volunteer work in the garden will be needed through September. Bring: Yourself, friends! No garden tools or experience needed. Wear comfortable work clothes.
