MCPL Marathon City Branch to offer Hobbit-themed fitness challenge
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a Hobbit, a wizard or some other Middle Earth creature walking his or her way around Middle Earth? Now you can find out, when the Marathon County Public Library offers its Miles Thro’ Middle Earth Fitness Challenge from June 1-30 at its Marathon City Branch, 515 Washington St., Marathon City.
In “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, Frodo Baggins makes a 1,350-mile journey from The Shire to Mount Doom (that’s the equivalent of walking from Wausau to San Antonio, Texas!) Patrons of all ages can now put themselves in Frodo’s shoes (or, er, hairy feet) throughout the month of June as they count the miles they walk or run in any location – at the park, to and from work, at home, etc. Participants will track their miles on a fitness log, which they can return to the branch by the end of the month. All participants will receive a prize.
This event is free and open to the public with no registration required. For more information, call 715-443-2775 or visit https://mcpl.us/events/4903.
