National speakers Fawn Germer and Liz Uram headlined the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce’s Women’s Leadership Conference held on Wednesday, January 17 at the Stoney Creek Hotel & Convention Center in Rothschild. The event, in its fourth year, grew to include more than 450 women from around the region.

The Conference, designed to inspire and encourage women of all ages and career levels, offered an opportunity for women to develop skills for use in both their work and personal lives.

“The day allowed me to quiet my mind, reflect, think outside the box, and refocus on what was important for the year to come.” said Toni Dunwoody, production sales consultant with EO Johnson Business Technologies and member of the event’s planning committee. “Sharing a room with other authentic women and talented keynote speakers left me feeling inspired and revived. Let’s continue to create a culture here in central Wisconsin where we encourage, empower, and learn from one other. I challenge everyone that attended to reach out to at least one person they connected with to keep the momentum going.”

Fawn Germer presented keynote addresses titled ‘Hard Won Wisdom’ and ‘The Tenacity Factor: Why the Worst Can Bring Out Your Best.’ Germer is a four-time, Pulitzer-nominated journalist and bestselling author of an ‘Oprah’-featured title. Germer has spoken internationally to groups from the Department of Defense, NASA, Harvard Business School, the Central Intelligence Agency and many more.

Liz Uram presented a keynote address titled ‘Every Day Leadership Skills That Produce REAL Results’ at the event. Uram is the author of four books, including an Amazon.com bestseller. Uram speaks at more than 100 events annually with audiences ranging from Fortune 500 companies to non-profits.

The presenting sponsor of the 2018 Women’s Leadership Conference was Peoples State Bank, the gold sponsors were Ameriprise Financial – Wausau – Cornerstone Advisors, the Boy Scouts of America – Samoset Council and Church Mutual Insurance Company, silver sponsor was QPS Employment Group – Wausau and the bronze sponsors were Featherstone Cabinetry and Design – Rothschild, MCDEVCO Inc, Prosper Wealth Management and River Valley Bank.

For those interested in additional leadership training opportunities, registration is open for the 2018-2019 Leadership Excellence program. Leadership Excellence is a nine month, 12 session program which improves the ability of those enrolled to manage change, create synergistic teams and uncover positive solutions. The program is an interactive leadership program designed to develop the enrollee’s professional and personal self, based on their strengths. For more information on the program, contact Sharon Baumann at 715-845-6231 or [email protected] or visit the Chamber’s site.
