Gift wrapping booth benefits Bundles of Joy
Do you want to make Christmas gift wrapping easy this year? Shop at the Wausau Center Mall and have your gifts wrapped by enthusiastic volunteers in the United Way Volunteer Connection Bundles of Joy booth! For a donation you can check one thing off your list and help families in Marathon County at the same time.
From now until Christmas Eve, volunteers man the booth and collect money to provide emergency diapers and formula to those families in need throughout the year. Since 2007 Bundles of Joy has supported families with approximately 16,000 four-ounce bottles of formula and over 11,000 packages of diapers. The program partners with eight local agencies including Marathon County Health Department, WIC, The Women’s Community, The Salvation Army, Bridge Community Health Clinic, Catholic Charities, Head Start and the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin/Family Resource Center, to distribute to those unable to provide these necessary items for their children.
If you love to wrap gifts and want to get involved in a way that really makes a difference, you can register to volunteer by going to www.unitedwaymc.org. Click “Get Involved” and then “Bundles of Joy” to choose your time slot as you register.
Last year over 400 volunteers wrapped over 4,440 gifts to raise $7,218 in 27 days!
If you have questions or want to register by phone, call 715-298-5719. Gift wrappers must be 12 years of age or older, and volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Celebrate and participate in good will this 2016 season by getting gifts wrapped and/or helping do the wrapping! Make it a holiday to remember as you do something for yourself and others!
