The North Central Wisconsin Master Gardeners Association (NCWMGA) is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated annual Plant Sale, taking place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to noon at the Marathon Park Cattle Barn, 1201 Stewart Avenue, Wausau.
This popular community event serves as a fundraiser supporting local public gardens, student scholarships, and a variety of educational and community-based gardening initiatives.
Garden enthusiasts and plant lovers alike can explore a vibrant and diverse selection of locally grown plants, including perennials, annuals, hostas, vegetables, tomatoes, native plants, and seedlings, offering something for every garden and skill level.
A highlight of the event is the free children’s planting area, where young gardeners can get hands-on experience and cultivate their love of gardening under the guidance of knowledgeable volunteers.
New this year, Scout Troop 439 will offer refreshments, including hot Caribou coffee and a delicious assortment of baked goods such as scones (lemon blueberry, blackberry lime, blueberry oatmeal), cinnamon rolls, freshly made donut holes, and danishes.
Proceeds from last year’s Plant Sale helped fund a collaborative project with Wausau East High School horticulture students and staff, resulting in the design and installation of a garden courtyard now enjoyed by students, staff, and the community. Additional proceeds support scholarships, Rib Mountain State Park Wildflower Gardens, children’s educational gardening programs, and other local initiatives.
“We’re excited to invite the community to join us for our annual Plant Sale,” said Jill Falstad, Plant Sale Chair for NCWMGA. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to purchase high-quality plants at affordable prices, connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts, and support meaningful local garden-related projects.”
Admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring cash or checks, as credit cards will not be accepted.
