WAUSAU – A former Wausau area substitute teacher has been arrested for a crime involving an underage individual.
“The Wausau School District and D.C. Everest Area School District have been notified by the Wausau Police Department that a former substitute teacher, David Faulkner, was arrested for a sexual crime involving an underage person,” a Wausau School District release said. “The crime did not involve students from either of the school districts and there is no evidence that he used his position as a substitute teacher for the purposes of meeting underage individuals.”
Faulkner worked intermittently as a substitute teacher in the Wausau School District since August 2016 and intermittently with D.C. Everest since January 2012.
“Both districts conducted a criminal background check and completed a thorough reference check at the time of his hiring,” the release added.
Faulkner has been removed from the districts’ sub-teaching roster and the incident has been reported to the Department of Public Instruction for a license revocation review.
“The school districts are cooperating with the Wausau Police Department in this investigation,” the release said.
