Making Yourself Stronger Will Keep You On Your Feet Longer
Join the Stepping On Program
FOR WAUSAU TIMES
Prevention is by far the best way to avoid a fall. Exercising, working on balance and fall-proofing your home are all really important and if done regularly, can tremendously reduce your risk of falling. The big question: If you do take a tumble and you are uninjured, are you safely able to get back up?
As we age, some of us slowly lose the muscles that are responsible for helping us get up and down as easily as when we were younger. This is why it becomes so difficult for some of us to get up and down in the garden, when looking for something under the couch or the bed, or even playing on the floor with our grandchildren.
The good news: Our balance and muscle strength can improve at any age and with some dedication and work, can help us to get up from a fall, and (better yet) get down to the floor to play.
Better Your Balance and reduce your risk for falls, by joining us for the Stepping On program. You will have an opportunity to work with several community guest experts on things like: Bettering your balance, vision, medication, footwear as well as navigating snow, ice and uneven surfaces. Our Physical Therapists will even teach us the best way to get up from a fall!
