Sean Duffy experiences ‘Day in the Life’ at Peoples State Bank

Peoples State Bank hosted Representative Sean Duffy this week to see the bank’s operations and meet its customers, as part of the American Bankers Association’s “Take Your Lawmaker to Work” initiative.

During the visit, Rep. Duffy was given a glimpse into a typical “day in the life” of employees — and its customers — to experience first-hand how many of the issues being discussed in Washington affect the work Peoples State Bank does every day.

“We believe Rep. Duffy wants what is best for Northcentral Wisconsin,” said Pete Knitt, CEO. “This visit allowed Peoples State Bank to give our local representative in Congress a hometown perspective on banking that they can take with them to Washington.”

Topics discussed included tax reform, housing, banking innovation to make it easier for customers to manage their money, economic growth, supporting small businesses, and the role community banks play in the health and vitality of the local community.

“We are a nuts and bolts bank,” said Knitt. “We do what community banks are supposed to do – offering a safe place for customers to deposit their money, providing mortgages, and commercial lending to spur local economic development. We help small business succeed and we reinvest back into the community. It’s the old-fashioned way of banking and our communities benefit from that,” said Knitt.
