CoVantage Cares Foundation pledges $40,000 in matching funds
CoVantage Cares Foundation has announced they will kick off a two-week fund-raising campaign beginning on Nov. 29, which has become known as “Giving Tuesday.” Funds generated will be matched with up to $40,000 in contributions from CoVantage Cares Foundation, a public charity established by CoVantage Credit Union. Local organizations to receive funding from this year’s campaign were selected by CoVantage staff and are located throughout several communities served by CoVantage Credit Union.
CoVantage Cares Foundation was established as a way to provide financial support to organizations that serve individuals, especially those experiencing significant financial challenge, and organizations that work to enhance quality of life in communities served by CoVantage Credit Union.
According to CoVantage CEO Brian Prunty, “I’m proud to say our credit union has a history of supporting local needs and CoVantage Cares Foundation provides another opportunity to live our mission by working to keep our communities strong. We really liked the idea of leveraging Giving Tuesday to kick off the first public fund-raising effort for CoVantage Cares Foundation. By joining together, we believe our staff, members and communities have the potential to more than double the Foundation’s $40,000 grant. We anticipate being able to provide resources that will benefit thousands of local people served by receiving organizations. Please join us by making a Giving Tuesday contribution between November 29th and December 13th at any CoVantage branch.”
Charities selected to receive funding from this year’s Giving Tuesday initiative and their sponsoring CoVantage branches include: Wausau Area Women’s Community (Wausau, Weston, Rib Mountain, and Rothschild), Boys & Girls Club of Shawano County (Shawano), Portage County United Way (Stevens Point), Antigo Community Food Pantry and Weekend Backpack Program (Antigo), Elcho Food Pantry (Elcho), Northwoods United Way (Crandon and Rhinelander), and Iron County Cancer Unit (Crystal Falls and Iron River MI). CoVantage Cares Foundation will offer opportunities to support additional organizations with future public fund raising initiatives.
