Run, Walk, Or Volunteer To Fight Hunger! The 2024 Turkey Trot is Thanksgiving Day morning, November 28. Whether you run or walk, by yourself or with your family and friends (strollers and pets welcome!), 100% of your registration fee will help continue the work of Marathon County Hunger Coalition, an initiative of United Way. Disaster Relief Volunteers Needed! Red Cross shelter volunteers support the day-to-day activities within a disaster-relief shelter. Duties may include working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, and providing information. Free online training provided. Travel opportunities are also available. Data Entry Volunteer Needed! Habitat for Humanity of Wausau is looking for a volunteer who can dedicate 2-4 hours/week to assist with tracking volunteer hours and other information. Children’s Winter Clothing Needed! Winter coats, snow pants, and boots are among the most expensive clothing items a family needs all year. You can help take this worry off someone’s mind. Please drop off donations at the United Way Community Closet garage, located on the backside of the United Way office, 705 S. 24th Ave, Suite 440, in Wausau, on Wednesdays 1-4pm or Fridays 9am-12pm.
Pantry Items Needed! The Women’s Community shelter is in need of food items for their clients: canned chicken, Hamburger Helper, canned chili, applesauce, instant oatmeal, cereal, ramen, canned chili, crackers, granola bars, jelly/jam, coffee/tea.
