Many early immigrants to the Wausau Area were born between 1800-1835 in Pomerania (Northern Germany/Poland). They immigrated to the Wausau Area between 1850-1860s, in part brought over by August Kickbusch, the first Mayor of Wausau.
Family names include: Kickbusch, Marquardt, Schmoltzholz, Hapke, Hafemann, Bliese, Kohl, Berndt, Sternberg, Gehrke, and Jaecks.
My mother Ann (Bliese) Jaecks born in 1936 was the fifth generation to reside in Wausau. Late 2025 our family added another five generations. Earlier this year the five generations were captured in picture
We will be celebrating Ann's 90th Birthday this month on Saturday, August 15th with a Community Open House from 2:00-4:00 pm at Mount View Care Center's Community Room. The Community is invited to stop by to visit and view a family display.
