Olga (Ollie) Ann Wiegel, 95, Yuma, AZ passed away on December 9, 2025 from natural causes. She was born to John and Anna (Filips) Smola in Goodrich, WI on February 6, 1930.
She attended the Goodrich State Graduated School. Graduated from Medford High School, WI; University of Stevens Point, Stevens Point, WI with a B.A. and B.S., Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ with an M.A and an A.B.D.
After completing her studies for teaching, Ollie moved to Yuma, AZ to teach at the Yuma Union High School District #70 at KOFA High School where she taught for 18 years. Ollie also taught in a Migrant program during those years for Arizona Western College in communities near the Mexican border.
During the 1993-1994 school year, Ollie accepted a position to teach EFL (English as a Foreign Language) to students in a gymnasium in the city of Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. She believed this was one way to give back something to the country of her parents.
Ollie had a great love to travel. She visited every continent except Antarctica and Australia. Her favorite country was always returning back to the Czech Republic to visit her family and friends.
Ollie was a member of the: Western Fraternal Life Association, University of WI Stevens Point Alumni Association, Altrusa - Wausau, WI, Moose Lodge, Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) - Yuma, AZ, Sierra Club, Welcome Wagon, American Sokol Organization, Czech. Geneological Society International.
Of her marriage to David Wiegel (deceased), three children survive. Daughters Heidi Wiegel (Michael Derbick) of Wausau, WI, Jolene Olson (Gene Baca) of Colorado Springs, CO, and son Jason Wiegel, of Mosinee, WI. Grandchildren: Megan (Dominique) Harris, of Manitowoc, WI, Tyler (Katelynn) Olson, Colo. Springs, CO and Tanner (Dianna) Olson, Colorado Springs, CO. Great Grandchildren: Ella, Ben, Clayton; Step Great Grandchildren: Everett, Nicholas.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Smola; sister, Bess; brother, Charles, and daughter-in-law, Julie Wiegel.
Memorial Service will be at a later date in Wausau, WI. She will be laid to rest in the family plot in the Evergreen Cemetery, Medford, WI.
