WAUSAU – The Wausau school district staff began scheduling
COVID vaccination appointments on March 10.
“As of today, March 10, the Wausau School District has
received word that our staff can begin scheduling appointments with Aspirus to
get vaccinated against COVID-19. For various reasons, those vaccinations need
to be given off-site at Aspirus,” a school district release stated.
“Because we are a large school district, we have tiered
guidelines in place for scheduling so that we don’t crash the Aspirus phone
system. The tiered guidelines were determined, in part, by the number of
student positive cases in each of our grade levels this school year.”
High school staff was able to start calling on March 10; middle
school staff on March 15, elementary staff on March 17; and district level
building and staff on March 19.
Round No. 1 vaccine distribution is anticipated to be spread
out over the next three weeks.
