Three Elementary Schools Closed as Part of Wausau School District Consolidation Plan Up for Sale

Posted

Three elementary schools that were closed as part of the Wausau School District’s consolidation process are now listed and officially up for sale.

Those schools are:

  • Hawthorn Hills (1600 Kickbusch St., Wausau)
  • Hewitt-Texas (164475 Granite Rd., Wausau)
  • Grant (500 N. 4th Ave., Wausau)

After an appraisal was completed on all three properties, they were listed through Tim Wimmer – a local broker.  Tim Wimmer was selected through a committee process, and we’ll be working closely with him throughout the sale process.

That said, the Wausau School Board will review any offers made on the properties and will make any final decisions on the sales of the prospective schools.   In the meantime, the moving process is now underway.  Our staff members at Hawthorn Hills, Hewitt-Texas, Grant, and Lincoln (which is being repurposed into a 4K academy), along with our 4K/Early Childhood team, have done a tremendous job packing up their spaces in preparation for their moves.

We’d also like to give a shout-out to the Wausau School District Buildings and Grounds team, which has also played a critical role in the planning and packing process.  The moving process is expected to last the majority of summer break, but will be done in time for open houses at the end of August and the first day of school in September.  The community can stay up-to-date on Wausau School District consolidation by visiting our Wausau School District website.
