Creative Computing for Everyone (MCPL Wausau) Students in grades 4-12 can learn how to use Scratch programming to make a variety of games, stories and animations on June 19 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau! This six-week workshop will be a great introduction to Scratch programming and all it has to offer. Any skill and experience level, from beginner to intermediate, is welcome to attend. Free and open to all tweens and teens. For more information, call 715-261- 7230.

PAWS to Read (MCPL Mosinee) Children will have the opportunity to read to a friendly pooch as part of the Marathon County Public Library’s Summer Library Program! MCPL will offer a session of “PAWS to Read” on June 19 from 3-4 p.m. at the MCPL Mosinee Branch, 123 Main St., Mosinee. Kids can practice and improve their literary skills by reading aloud to a well-behaved therapy dog, which will be provided by Therapy Dogs of Central Wisconsin. This is a drop-in event, so children are welcome to come any time during the set time period. Free and open to the public with no registration required. For more information, call 715-693-2144.

Professor Marvel’s DIY Magic Show (MCPL Wausau) Children and their families are invited to be astounded and amazed by magician Professor Marvel on June 20 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and again from 2-3 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau! Professor Marvel will engage kids with magic, storytelling and puppetry, and fuel their imaginations through a selection of featured books. Summer Craft Day (MCPL Hatley) Escape the heat and come to the Marathon County Public Library to work on some summer-themed crafts on June 20 from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the Hatley Branch Library, 435 Curtis Ave., Hatley! Children and families can work on a variety of craft projects related to summer and our Summer Library Program theme of “Build a Better World”, including making sparkling dragonflies, dazzling suns, salt paintings and more! The Marathon County Public Library will host its LEGO Block Party on June 20 from noon to 2 p.m. at its Athens Branch, 221 Caroline St., Athens. All blocks will be provided. This six-week program is a chance for girls and young women to learn computer coding in a setting that helps them feel comfortable to speak up, ask questions and learn a new skill! This workshop is free and open to tween and teen girls only. It’s Your Move: Family Game Night (MCPL Wausau) Tired of playing the same old games at home?
