The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office and the Special Investigations Unit are currently investigating three significant drug-related incidents that occurred on Monday, June 26 - an overdose death involving methamphetamine, a methamphetamine and weapon arrest, and a possession of marijuana with intent to deliver arrest.
DEATH INVESTIGATION
On Monday, at approximately 8:29 a.m., the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call to respond the 800 block of County Road Y in the Town of Norrie regarding two individuals having a medical emergency. It was reported that 37-yard-old Lucas A. Groshek and his wife, 33-year-old Carolyn C. Groshek, both of Shawano County, had pulled into the driveway, visibly shaking and convulsing. They were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
Lucas was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Carolyn was in stable condition Tuesday afternoon, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office. A large amount of methamphetamine was found in their vehicle. At this point, it is believed they may have overdosed on methamphetamine. An autopsy is scheduled today. No other information will be released until the toxicology results are received.
METHAMPHETAMINE/WEAPON ARREST
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office – Special Investigations Unit (SIU), in conjunction with Wausau Police Department and North Central Drug Enforcement Group (NORDEG) investigators, made three arrests in the city of Wausau in connection with the distribution of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana in Marathon and Oneida counties.
On Monday, June 26, investigators conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of North 6th Street and executed a search warrant in the 900 block of Townline Road. The traffic stop and the search warrant resulted in seizure of the following:
•81 grams of Methamphetamine, approximate street value $8,100.
•16 grams Cocaine, approximate street value $1,600.
•307 grams THC, approximate street value $6,200.
•A loaded .40 caliber handgun.
At this time, Tou Yongyee Xiong, 33, Susie Cheng, 35, and Leng Ritchie Her, 28, are in custody at the Marathon County Jail in connection with the incident. They all are subject to various charges and made initial appearances Tuesday afternoon. Charges include, but are not limited to:
•Delivery of Methamphetamine
•Delivery of Cocaine
•Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver
•Possession of THC with Intent to Deliver
•Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Vehicle
•Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place
•Felon in Possession of a Firearm
•Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
•Probation Violations
MARIJUANA (THC)/DELIVER INVESTIGATION
On June 26, the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32-year-old Alan E. Pearcy at an address in the Town of Norrie for possessing approximately 280 grams of THC and other drug paraphernalia, including lighting and chemicals consistent with a marijuana grow operation. A four-year-old child was removed from the home.
Pearcy will appear in court on Wednesday at 2 p.m. for his initial appearance. He will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office for:
•Possession of THC
•Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
•Possession of THC with Intent to Deliver
•Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place
•Obstructing a Police Officer
•Child Neglect/Drug Endangered Child
Marathon County Sheriff’ Scott R. Parks noted that the investigations are ongoing and no other details will be released at this time.
