Winston Churchill is one of the most revered figures in history. The public can learn more about this legendary man by attending a free screening of a film about him on April 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau.
In this 2017 film, Winston Churchill (Gary Oldman) is the newly-appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. During the early days of World War II, Churchill must decide whether to negotiate with Hitler, or fight on against incredible odds. Oldman received the Academy Award for Best Actor at this year’s Oscars for his portrayal of Churchill while the film itself received a Best Picture nomination. Rated PG-13, with a running time of 125 minutes.
