Guidelines, Location the same as 2022
Wausau—December 6, 2023—The Man of Honor Society announces that the 15th Annual Ham Giveaway is December 9th, using the same location from 2022, and guidelines.
This time of season traditionally marks the ability to give to our community. The Man of Honor Society’s mission is to give back to our Veterans, and/or active military in Marathon County. What started as a couple hundred hams fifteen years ago, has now grown to 100’s ofhams.This year, Sam’s Club of Wausau, and Lamb’s in Rib Mountain donated turkeys that will also be available. Through experience, and popularity of event, the giveaway once started, is typically finished within 45 minutes or less. Amazing!
December 9th, at 9am marks the start on the midway at Marathon Park Wausau. This year, like last year, the East entrance, will be the ONLY entrance to the event. Other entrances will not be available to control traffic during the event. Like last year, recipients will drive through to pick up their ham. There will be a check point for proper I.D. such as: DD Form 214, Current I.D. from military, or current VA I.D. card., and then proceed to pick up ham while in their vehicle. There has been such a need and response, we are asking for everyone’s effort to make this a success. Recipient must be present to receive this year, no exceptions. Man of Honor has received positive feedback over the last two years, for the ability in driving through to pick up hams. It has offered more options for those that could not stand in line previous years. Our volunteers are a well-oiled machine in making this giveaway a success. We ask that you share this giveaway information so Veterans that need assistance in getting there, have equal opportunity in being there to receive their holiday ham.
