EAA Chapter 640 is thrilled to announce the annual Armed Forces Day Community Event Sponsored by Wisconsin Chevy Dealers. The event is set to take place on May 18, 2024, from 8am to 4pm at the Learn Build Fly Education Center, 620 Woods Pl, Wausau, WI 54403. The event is FREE and open to all.

This event is a day filled with reverence, excitement, and the spirit of aviation.

Our mission is clear: to recognize the courageous sacrifices made by our military, celebrate their invaluable contributions, and shine a spotlight on the pivotal role of aviation in both our nation's past and future.

From the crack of dawn at 7:30 am when the gates open, until the final salute at 4:00 pm, attendees can expect a jam-packed schedule of activities, exhibitions, and heartwarming moments. But, in true military fashion, flexibility is key, as we honor the unpredictability of both aircraft and active duty participants.

Highlights of the Day Include:

  • Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast: Start your day with a hearty meal to fuel your patriotism.
  • CAF Rise Above Exhibit Discover the inspiring stories of the Tuskegee Airmen and the WASP, in this one of a kind mobile theater and immersive experience and signature aircraft P-51C Mustang “Tuskegee Airmen” sponsored by Wisconsin Chevy Dealers.
  • IRONBULL Youth Endurance Run: Witness the indomitable spirit of our future generation. Youth from tots to highschoolers race together in a 20 minute endurance run, a nod to the lifetime fitness required to serve as a military aviator. The youth run is free, pre registered runners will receive a free pancake breakfast!
  • Opening Ceremony & Color Guard: Pay homage to our heroes in a stirring display of pride and honor.
  • Guest Speakers: Wausau’s own Chief Warrant Officer Jon Weiler and Dr. David Mathias share their insights and experiences.
