Winter in Wausau is something to be celebrated, and for our youngest residents, there is no better way to learn to love the snow than the Snow Striders program. Hosted by Wausau Nordic at the beautiful Nine Mile Forest, this program is designed to turn "K4 through 3rd grade" beginners into lifelong winter enthusiasts.
Fun First, Skills Second The philosophy of Snow Striders is simple: enjoyment. This is an introductory program intended to get kids comfortable on skis and having fun outside. Whether exploring the "Kids Adventure Trail," the "Cookie Trail," or the "Olympic Field of Dreams," the focus is on play.
Gear and Membership One of the biggest hurdles to trying a new sport is the equipment cost. Wausau Nordic has solved this: Equipment from the rental inventory is available at no cost.
The program itself is FREE, provided your family has a current Club Membership.
New Members: Visit the Wausau Nordic website to sign up for a family membership.
A Community Effort Snow Striders runs on community spirit. The club is actively seeking parent volunteers to assist with at least two sessions. You don't need to be a pro skier—you just need to be willing to wear skis or snowshoes and offer a helping hand on the trails.
