Doug Wendt, Health Insurance Consultant at Buska Retirement Solutions, Inc. in Wausau, recently attended the Veterans Weekly Cup-of-Coffee organizational meeting on Wednesday, March 29, 2026. During the visit, Doug presented gift cards for coffee to Mike Heilmann, the group’s president.
To show appreciation and honor local veterans, Buska has proudly sponsored coffee at the Veterans Weekly Cup-of-Coffee gathering once a month since July 2024.
Over the past 14 years, the group has grown to more than 770 members, with over 85 veterans regularly attending the weekly Wednesday meeting at 10:00 a.m. at Denny’s in Rothschild. These gatherings provide a welcoming and supportive environment where veterans can connect over coffee, share a meal, and build camaraderie.
Each meeting often features guest speakers who offer valuable information on veteran services and support. The group also serves as a vital resource hub—providing updates, encouragement, and assistance, including free meal delivery to veterans and their families in need. To date, the organization has donated more than 4,000 meals to veterans in the Wausau area as a gesture of gratitude for their service.
Veterans of all ages and service eras are encouraged to attend. As the group warmly puts it: “Just grab a chair and say hello.”
