A transformative new housing development is coming to Wausau.
FOR MMC
Westside Commons will transform the previously underutilized Westside Battery parcel into a vibrant 56-unit affordable apartment community. Gorman has co-developed this project as a gateway to Wausau’s downtown district in collaboration with the City of Wausau, One 5 Olive, and Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. This project aims to provide Wausau residents with much-needed affordable housing.
The one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment homes, ranging from 578 to 1,225 square feet, will offer modern amenities, including in-unit washers and dryers, storage units, an exercise room, and on-site property management. The community also includes 53 underground and 20 surface parking spaces, ensuring convenient and secure parking for residents.
“Gorman & Company, in partnership with the City of Wausau, have dedicated several years to the thoughtful redevelopment of the former Westside Battery site,” Ted Matkom, Wisconsin Market President for Gorman & Company, said. “Together, we are transforming this once underutilized parcel into a vibrant and impressive gateway to Wausau’s downtown district. This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to revitalizing the community and providing quality, affordable housing that will enhance the city’s appeal and vitality for years to come.”
LSS will maintain an on-site office, providing essential educational services to residents, further enhancing the supportive community environment that Westside Commons will foster.
Westside Commons is financed and supported by the following partners: One 5 Olive, Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, City of Wausau, WHEDA, Impact 7, Cinnaire, FHLB Chicago, Gorman General Contractors, Gorman Architecture, and Gorman Property Management.
