Colin Hanson, a fifth-grade teacher at the Edgar School District spoke at the Veterans Weekly Cup-of-Coffee group meeting at Denny’s in Rothschild on July 24, 2024. He talked about the Edgar Schools Districts “A Walk in Their Shoes” program which includes four presentations this year.

Colin’s Veteran’s Day program features the “real” Forest Gump. Mr. Sammy Davis and his wife Dixie Davis. Mr. Sammy Davis is one of 62 living Medal of Honor recipients and he will be with us to share his service and their story together! The program will be at the UWSP Wausau Campus in the Center for Civic Engagement building on November 11, 2024 at 6:30pm.

The theme for this year is “Overcoming Obstacles to Inspire Success”. Including author, Ms. Yangsook Choi and her collection of books including “The Name Jar”, Dr. John Carlos, and his story, “The Sports Moment that Changed the World” and author Kirsten W. Larson and her books” The Fire of Stars” and “Wood, Wire, Wings”, both stories are about amazing women who pushed the boundaries during the early 1900’s.
