Request for Input: Wausau School District Launches Community-Wide Survey as Part of Effort to Address Budget Deficit
The Wausau School Board is moving forward with a community-wide survey to see if there’s interest in a possible operational referendum in November to help address the district’s budget deficit. This survey does not mean the district will go to referendum in November, it simply means we are going to see what the community would think about such a move. To help with the survey process, we are working with the Donovan Group, which is a school communications firm.
With their help, that survey is now ready to go. In fact, a postcard with instructions on how to fill
out this survey should be arriving in mailboxes throughout the Wausau School District within the next couple of days – if not, today.
Our hope is that community members will take 10-15 minutes of their time to fill out this survey.
The feedback provided to us in that survey is critical in that it will provide the Wausau School Board with important information and data as they discuss and think about whether or not the district should consider a possible operational referendum this fall.
Links to the survey are also available on our Wausau School District website, wausauschools.org, as well as our social media platforms:

IMPORTANT NOTE: The April 2022 construction work being done district-wide is not connected to the budget deficit we’re facing. The funds gifted to us by the community through the bond referendum can only be used for the purposes of improving our facilities. Those funds cannot be used for operational needs, according to state law.
Paper copies of the survey are also available by visiting the Longfellow Administration Center at 415 Seymour Street in Wausau. The building is open between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you’d like to schedule an appointment to pick up a survey, just call 715-261- 0500 and we’ll gladly help you.
