Paper Cities Kennel Club Donates $750 to Crossroads K-9s Rescue/Crossroads K-9s for Cops.

FOR THE WAUSAU TIMES
Crossroads K-9s Rescue started in 2013 as Heather Zynda and Sean Dumias of Kronenwetter rescued a German Shepherd named Bella. In 2016 Heather and Sean opened the 501(c)(3) organization Crossroads K-9s Rescue. Since their first rescue they have successfully rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed over 200 canines.
In 2017 the Crossroads K-9 rescue team combined their love of rescues with respect for U.S. military veterans. Rescue dogs are now being trained to become service animals for veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), and other military related traumas. Crossroads K-9s for Cops is a program developed to be able to provide K-9 units to the police departments in the State of Wisconsin. The Goal of Crossroads K-9s is to provide all of the training to the dogs and to its handler at no cost to the police department or to the taxpayer. $20,000-40,000 is the typical cost for training a dog for the K-9 unit.
Paper Cities Kennel Club (PCKC) is a Non-Profit organization that is licensed by The American Kennel Club (AKC). The club members are dog enthusiasts located in and around the Wausau area. The club has been running since 1960 and has a strong tie to the community. The club is passionate about the programs and events that they host and participate in such as Canine Ambassadors, Bite Prevention, Meet the breed, Obedience/Rally competitions, AKC Fast Cat, seminars, education classes, annual AKC All Breed Dog Show, and contributions to local dog related charities. As a result of the raffle that PCKC held at its annual All Breed Show in September, they raised enough money to make a monetary donation to Crossroad K-9s Rescue/Crossroads K-9s for Cops.
