FOR THE WAUSAU TIMES

We are excited to share that we have created our own episode of The Office called “The Fire
Department.” Many of our staff love the original TV show, and with their help, we worked tirelessly to
create a parody in the same spirit as the original.
In 2022 the Wausau City Council created 12 new firefighter/paramedic positions in the department. Nine
of those positions are being fully funded for the first three years through a FEMA SAFER Grant. This is a
monumental step forward for our department.
We are dedicating this video to the new crew we have hired so far and will continue to hire to fill these
new positions. In the video, you will follow a new probationary firefighter as he navigates his way through
his new career and tries to find his place in his new department.
This video was written by Lieutenant Brian Bauknecht and Firefighter/Paramedic Jacob DeClerc. They
collaborated with Community Communication Specialist Ethan Barres, who filmed and edited the video.
We hope the community enjoys tribute to our probationary firefighters.
