Marathon Co. Public Library to offer talk on Wisconsin fighter pilots

FOR THE WAUSAU TIMES
WAUSAU – Wisconsin is known for many things: cheese. Beer. And fighter pilots? Join the Marathon
County Public Library for a compelling presentation on ace fight pilots from the state on January 12 from
6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau.
Author Mike O’Connor will talk about his new book Badger Aces: Wisconsin Fighter Aces 1917-1972,
which chronicles Wisconsin fighter pilots from World War I through the Vietnam War. O’Connor used
combat and squadron records, personal reminiscences and more to tell the tales of skilled pilots who
downed five aircraft in battle, becoming air aces.
