WAUSAU – The Badger State Games’ Winter Games are celebrating 33 years of bringing Olympic-style sporting events to Wisconsin, allowing athletes of all ages and abilities to “Go for the Gold.” Those who medal with a gold, silver or bronze are then eligible to compete in the State Games of America taking place in Iowa 2022.
Nordic Skiing at Nine Mile Forest
Approximately 400 Nordic Skiers will gather to compete, including youth and High School teams, adults, and adaptive divisions. Races will include Freestyle and Classic formats and distances will range from 1-2k (age 9 & under) up to 43k (age 18 & up). Spectators are encouraged to make some noise to cheer on their teams! Curling at Wausau Curling Club
Approximately 30- 40 teams will be competing at the beautiful Wausau Curling Club this weekend. The competition has five different divisions: Juniors, Men’s, Women’s, Open Adults, and Open Stick, which includes wheelchairs. The Wausau Curling Club is a great host with it’s eight sheets of ice (one of the largest in the country) and its wonderful menu of food and drink.
Spectators also can enjoy front row theatre seating to cheer their teams on. Medals will be awarded Sunday afternoon after a weekend of exciting Curling action.

Figure Skating at Mosinee Recreation Center
Over 300 competitors in many different categories and costumes will start competing and entertaining the crowd on Thursday, Jan. 27. The competition features Solo, Duets, and Teams. This is a sanctioned (USFS) United States Figure Skating competition and a fan favorite. Medal winners are qualified for the State Games of America in Iowa in summer 2022.
