Power restoration efforts continue in Marathon County
For the Wausau Times
WAUSAU – The Dec. 15 storm, along with prolonged high winds, has resulted in numerous power outages throughout Marathon County and central Wisconsin. Marathon County utility partners continue to work around the clock to restore service to area residents.
As of Dec. 16, approximately 3,100 households in Marathon County are still without power.
Important Tips from ReadyWisconsin:
Keep freezers and refrigerators closed.
Only use generators outdoors and away from windows.
Do not use a gas stove to heat your home.
Disconnect appliances and electronics to avoid damage from electrical surges.
Use alternate plans for refrigerating medicines or power-dependent medical devices.
If safe, go to an alternate heated location.
Extreme cold can cause water pipes to freeze. Leave all water taps slightly open so they drip continuously.
Check on your neighbors.
Additionally, Wausau Fire Department Station No. 2, located at 3017 Seymour Lane in Wausau, has opened its Community Room as a warming center for area residents that continue to be without power.
