ROTHSCHILD – On April 25 at 4:42 a.m., officers responded to a suspicious activity complaint in the 700 block of Lawrence Avenue in the village of Rothschild.
A man, later identified as Jonathon Bishop, 29, was arrested for numerous offenses including unlawful trespass to a residence in Rothschild.
“After being handcuffed and placed in the rear seat of a squad car, the male was able to access the driver’s compartment of the squad through a one foot by one foot window located on the cage,” a Rothschild Police Department release stated.
“As a result, the male began to operate the squad car, a chase ensued ultimately damaging the squad car and numerous private properties within the village of Rothschild.
“Once the squad car was inoperable due to the damage, the male fled on foot and accessed a residence in the 8500 block of Louis Street where he was apprehended and taken into custody.
Bishop was taken to the Marathon County Jail, where he was booked on charges of theft, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, trespass to dwelling, escape, and operating after revocation.
“This is an ongoing investigation, and there may be other crimes this individual may be involved with as he was in possession of a stolen vehicle,” the statement added.
