Wisconsin Classic Pond Hockey cancelled for 2021

WAUSAU – The Wisconsin Classic Pond Hockey –formerly Leinenkugel’s Classic Pond Hockey – has cancelled its 2021 tournament.
Organizers said making this decision to cancel this year’s tournament was made through discussions with the Marathon County Health Department, the Central Wisconsin Sports Authority and Tournament Sponsors, and Tournament Commissioners.
“The health and safety of all players, volunteers, organizers, and our community are our priority during these trying times the decision with our partners was extremely difficult, with everyone attempting every option to continue with the tournament. Everyonefinally realizing that not being able to provide the quality of event that players and guestscome to expect that it would be right thing to do. With that said, we look forward to welcoming back all teams and guests for 2022 the Wisconsin Classic Pond Hockey Tournament,” an event release stated.
The tournament was scheduled for Jan. 29-31 on Sunnyvale Lake.
“This provides organizers a greater period of timeto explore any necessary changes needed if this these circumstances continue through 2021,” the release added.
“Teams that registered for the 2021 event will be refunded their entry fee. As of now, plans are to bring the tournament back in January 2022.”
