AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program offers tax assistance
For the Wausau Times
WAUSAU – The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program will be offering free income tax assistance and preparation to low- and moderate-income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 60 and older.
“There will be many changes to the program in the Wausau area this year,” an AARP Foundation releases stated.
As in the past, appointments will be required by calling 715-513-7252, beginning Jan. 19, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
“All appointments will be held at 212 River Drive, Wausau. Following AARP Guidelines, masks and social distancing will be required as well as limited building capacity. Because of the limited building capacity, fewer appointments will be available,” the release added.
“Due to changes in the program, two appointments will be required. The first appointment will be made at the above phone number. Taxpayers will receive by mail a packet of materials which must be completed when they come to the first appointment.
“At the first appointment, all tax documents will be scanned and prepared by an off-site tax counselor. A second appointment will be created for one week later at which time the taxpayer will review and sign the permission to e-file return. Tax returns will be e-filed after signatures have been obtained.”
