City reminds voters that drop boxes are specific to municipality
For the Wausau Times
WAUSAU – The city of Wausau is reminding voters that absentee voting drop boxes are specific to residents of that particular municipality.
“While the absentee voting drop boxes that municipalities are installing are a wonderful thing, voters need to know that you need to be a resident of a municipality to use their drop box. For example, the city of Wausau box is only for city of Wausau voters; village of Weston box is only for village of Weston voters, etc…,” a city release said.
“State statute dictates that your absentee ballot must be returned to the clerk in the municipality where you live. Please don’t put your completed ballot in a drop box that is outside of your town, village, or city.
“Another note, the drive through voting option the City of Wausau will be offering Oct 23-24 is restricted to City of Wausau residents. In person absentee voting must be done in the municipality where the voter lives.”
Those who want to take advantage of the drive-through early voting option may register at myvote.wi.gov. For more information, visit
