Shopping Local amid COVID-19 restrictions
Wausau-– Due to the escalation of the COVID-19 virus, there has been changing restrictions for businesses nationally and state-wide. The effects of these restrictions have been felt by our entire community, specifically local organizations, small businesses, and civic and cultural institutions.
Amid this virus, Wausau businesses in our Downtown and River West neighborhood have been adapting accordingly. Although hours and delivery methods have changed, the majority of these businesses remain open. To ensure the safety of the Wausau community, these businesses remain compliant and up to date with the changing situation.
The Wausau River District has compiled a list of resources, current business listings, hours of operation and delivery methods; this list serves and supports both the businesses and community members alike. Please visit WausauRiverDistrict.org for more information.
Blake Opal-Wahoske, Executive Director of the Wausau River District, explains, “It is critical that we support our locally owned businesses right now, as they are the backbone of the Wausau River District. When you shop locally, not only does more money stay in our local economy, but you are helping to support local employees and business owners who have been among those most financially affected by the pandemic.” Show your local support safely during this time by ordering take out or delivery from a restaurant, purchase a gift card now for use after the pandemic is over, shop online from a local retailer, and maintain monthly memberships.
Wausau River District, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit Main Street America program whose mission is to promote and facilitate the economic vitality and historic preservation of downtown Wausau for the benefit of the entire community.
