East boys drop one to SPASH

WAUSAU – The Wausau East boys basketball team hosted conference rival, SPASH, on Feb. 18, where the Panthers ran away with the win.
SPASH took a 42-30 into the second half and continued to pull away, winning the game 84-51.
Wausau East scored 16 3-pointers in the effort. Leading Wausau East was Gabe Krueger who went 9-9 for 3-point shots and totaled 25 points for the Lumberjacks. Ben Cayley added 11 points for the team.
SPASH’s James Jacobs and Austin Beyer each put up 15 points for the Panthers. Nate Streveler added 12 and teammates Bryce Pelkey and Evan Volendorf each scored 10.
SPASH moved to 7-3 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference and 12-8 overall. Wausau East dropped to 3-8 in conference action and 9-11 overall.
The Lumberjacks head to Wisconsin Rapids on Feb. 21 and host Lakeland on Feb. 24.
The Panthers will host Wausau West on Feb. 21 and Marshfield on Feb. 27.
