REI and NPS support Breast Cancer Awareness
WAUSAU – Team members from REI Engineering, Inc. (REI) and Northwest Petroleum Services, Inc. (NPS) showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by holding a “Pink Out Day” where they wore pink and raised $500 for the Aspirus Heath Foundation for Cancer Care. During a luncheon on Pink Out Day, team members purchased paper bras that were hung on a clothesline to visually demonstrate the teams’ support for breast cancer awareness. Additional monetary donations were raised through pink apparel sales and free will donations.
In addition, the companies NPS and REI are donating adult coloring/meditation books with colored pencils to the Aspirus Regional Cancer Center waiting room and oncology unit to help patients and caregivers occupy the abundant time spent waiting for treatments or to meet with healthcare professionals. Each paper bra that team members purchased during the luncheon, represents a coloring book and colored pencil set that the companies are providing visitors to the waiting room.
“I’m proud of our team for supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” says REI president Jen Nieuwenhuis. “It sends a message of hope for the many members of our community fighting the disease.”
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month which is a national annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the United States. Early detection has led to an increase of survival.
