River Edge Trail master plan update
WAUSAU, WI – The public is invited to an Open House for the update of the City’s River Edge Master Plan on Tuesday September 17th in the lobby of City Hall, 407 Grant Street from 4pm-5pm. Originally developed almost 25 years ago, the plan set in motion the acquisition and development of the City’s
River’s Edge Trail system which has grown to nearly 5 miles. The recent completion of the Riverlife Park in 2019 just completed another integral link in the original plan.
The update process which is led by Graef, a major planning, architecture and engineering firm in Wisconsin who has been active in Wausau previously, is analyzing potential corridors and connections to expand the trail network along the river, connecting the trail system to regional trails and improve access from neighborhoods to the trail. “The City continues to invest heavily in new plan development, building on record years of new development. The River Edge Master Plan is one very tangible way residents can see long term planning paying off,” said Brad Sippel, Assistant Planner for the City of Wausau.
“This plan update, along with our other major investments in infrastructure at this key time, is the foundation for our future growth and development,” said Robert Mielke, Mayor.
