The Wis. Department of Natural Resources’ Bureau of Law Enforcement is seeking the public’s help with information related to the illegal shooting of a bald eagle, a federally protected bird, in Marathon County.

The eagle was discovered lying in a roadside ditch near the intersection on County Highway Y and Hansen Rd in the Township of Harrison, located in northeastern Marathon County on Sat., March 23, 2019. The bird was deceased upon discovery and brought to the Raptor Education Group in Antigo, Wis. An examination of the bird found lead fragments and wounds consistent to a gunshot.

If you have any information, no matter how minor, that may be related to the illegal shooting of the eagle, contact the WDNR Violation Hotline by phone, text or online. 1-800-TIP-WDNR or 1-800-847-9367.
