MCPL Wausau event to examine human trafficking in central Wisconsin

The truths behind human trafficking are important for adults, parents, and children to understand and recognize to keep themselves and others safe, and the Marathon County Public Library will help educate you! MCPL will offer a presentation on “Myths and Truths: Human Trafficking in Central Wisconsin” on January 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau.
Officer Sarah D’Acquisto from the Wausau Police Department and Brenda Bayer, advocate for The Women’s Community, will give an informative presentation on myths and trends of human trafficking. Sarah and Brenda will cover what human trafficking looks like in central Wisconsin, the myriad of motivations behind trafficking, how social media plays a role in recruitment, red flags, and other topics. There will be time for questions and a discussion at the end of the presentation. The content of this presentation is mature and is intended for teens, young adults, and adults.
