Wolves, whitetail deer to be subjects of upcoming talk at MCPL Wausau

Learn about impact that wolves have on Wisconsin’s deer population and other factors of this important issue during a presentation with a state expert on October 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau.
Tim Van Deelen, deer hunter and professor of wildlife ecology at UW-Madison, will review a bit of the history of the predation of deer by Wisconsin’s wolf population and its scientific context. He’ll also discuss recent research and population modeling that attempt to determine the effects of wolves compared to the impacts of hunting and the impacts of other predators. This presentation is made possible through the University of Wisconsin-Madison Speakers Bureau.
