Crime Stoppers

Marathon County Crime Stoppers wants the community to be aware of a scam that occurred in the Township of Rib Mountain in September.
On Sept. 14, a male knocked on the door to a residence occupied by an elderly man and acted as if he knew him. The male told the homeowner his roof was visibly in need of repair and talked him into letting him fix his roof and signed a simple one-sheet contract to repair the leaky roof. The home owner eventually agreed to pay the male $11,000 to do the work. The male went on the roof and about a half hour later, the male came back and said he had sprayed something on the roof.
The name on the contract was FLAWLESS (Masonry, Paving, Sealing). The male was driving a black four door Chevy Silverado with “FLAWLESS” on the back passenger door. He identified himself as Joseph Stevens when he cashed the victim’s check for the work. This male appears to be part of a criminal gypsie/traveler group which targets the elderly 97% of the time.
