Wausau MPO holding open house

The Wausau Metropolitan Planning Organization is hosting an Open House for the Transit Development Plan (TDP) that was recently adopted by the Wausau Metropolitan Planning Commission. Area residents are encouraged to drop in anytime between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St. in Wausau, second floor meeting room.
MPO and Metro Ride staff will be on hand to discuss the TDP as well as the Rider and Metro Area surveys that were conducted as part of this plan. The Transit Development Plan is a document which is the result of a planning process done every five years for the local public transit provider and guided by federal regulations. The plan evaluates the current system, the need for transit in the wider metro area, makes recommendations and identifies opportunities.
The Metro Area survey was a mailing to 8,463 randomly selected residents in Wausau, Rib Mountain, Schofield, Weston and Rothschild to determine their attitudes on public transit and paratransit services in their communities. Overall, 62% of respondents feel their community should have transit and 54% feel their community should budget for transit in the next few years.
More detail on the plan and survey results will be available at the Open House and in the plan which is available at: http://www.co.marathon.wi.us/
