Junior Achievement to celebrate Champions of Business Inspiration Plaza with ribbon cutting
Junior Achievement of Wisconsin Inc – Northcentral District will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15 to celebrate the new Champions of Business Inspiration Plaza at the entrance to Barker Island on the RiverLife walkway just south of the WOW Family Entertainment Center. The event is open to the public.
The intent of this plaza was to create an interpretive display that would tell the story of the area’s most distinguished business leaders. The centerpiece of the display will tell the story of Wausau’s first businesses, Barker-Stewart Mill, constructed on Barker Island by prominent lumber barons C.C. Stewart and Hiram Stewart. The Champions of Business Inspiration Plaza will offer an opportunity for Wausau’s economic vitality to be showcased for relocating companies and prospective employees considering moving to the area.
Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization that helps teach area students about business and the economy as well as the value of entrepreneurship. The organization’s goal is to inspire our young people to remain in or return to the area to start businesses of their own or work for currently thriving businesses.
