MCPL Wausau to offer ‘batty’ presentation on May 1
Did you know that bats account for 20% of earth’s mammal diversity? Find out more about that and learn other bat-based facts during a special presentation on May 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau.
Jennifer Redell, bat biologist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR), will unearth the mysteries of Wisconsin’s bats and teach about the importance of these amazing animals, including how they are good for pest control, seed dispersal and pollination, among other benefits. Attendees will hear about the effects of white-nose syndrome on Wisconsin’s bat population and learn how to encourage the presence of bats in their own yards and neighborhoods. A fruit bat native to Africa will also be in attendance!
This event is free and open to the public with no registration required. For more information, call 715-261-7230 or visit https://mcpl.us/events/4801.
